Questions for anyone with answers:
- How do you get your models? (Do you just know them? Sign up for them? etc?)
- Do you more often plan ahead (your ideas, then make them) or spontaneously photograph beauty in the moment you see it?
- Is it safe to take a SLR camera into fog or a light mist? I don't see anything saying it's weather proof on mine.
- How much time do you normally set aside for taking your photos for each project? (30min, an hour, several hours, a whole day...etc)
- Is there a place to get props (for the studio) or do you just bring/buy your own stuff?
- Is most of your posted photos altered, or raw images? And do you think about that ahead of time? (for example: do you think about taking photos for black and white shots, or consider it after you're looking at all your raw images?)
- Do you have favorite spots to shoot? Or do you always travel someplace new to take photos?

I'm so fond of everyone's photos this semester, and I would love to improve my own work but am unsure of if or how it's safe to do so. I wish we all would comment more on the blog (rather than just verbally), because that way I could go back to read advice or questions later, but since no one does so, I thought I'd try doing this. If you can only answer one or two questions, please do so. If you can answer all of them, that's great! If other people have already answered, still give me your response. I love all your photos for different reasons, and we all have different techniques/experiences. I hope to hear from someone soon!

ReplyDeleteI like to post on Facebook when I need models- I find that most people are very willing!

Personally, I prefer capturing photos in the moment instead of planning them out.
Is it safe to take a SLR camera into fog or a light mist? I don't see anything saying it's weather proof on mine.
I would wrap in in a plastic bag- they sell "camera sleeves" on Amazon; that might be a good investment!
How much time do you normally set aside for taking your photos for each project? (30min, an hour, several hours, a whole day...etc)
30 minutes to an hour is normally enough for me!
Is there a place to get props (for the studio) or do you just bring/buy your own stuff?
What do you mean by "props"?
Is most of your posted photos altered, or raw images? And do you think about that ahead of time? (for example: do you think about taking photos for black and white shots, or consider it after you're looking at all your raw images?)
I edit all of my images in lightroom- tweaking the light and color. I like to have a somewhat cohesive look!
Do you have favorite spots to shoot? Or do you always travel someplace new to take photos?
Downtown Frederick, Baker Park, and my parents' farm are always my go-to spots!
I hope this helps! :)
What I mean by props is any items that aren't on an everyday person (special clothes, furniture, decorations...etc).
